My Approach
Life Transitions
I’ve worked in a large variety of settings, from homeless shelters to acute care medical facilities to eating disorder centers to clients’ homes. I’ve also worked with people of widely varying ages, races, orientations, cultural backgrounds, and abilities. Getting to spend time with all of these humans, having meaningful interactions, and sharing important life moments—that’s the good stuff of my work.
Along the way I have helped clients dealing with depression, anxiety, stress + burnout, substance use concerns, disordered eating + body image issues, relationship conflicts, health problems, family planning, grief + bereavement, conduct problems, and self-esteem. I have also counseled many people experiencing physical trauma, acute crisis, and major life-altering events. My approach is eclectic and draws from a variety of modalities, most often combining cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, narrative, and Adlerian counseling. I will tailor our interactions and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs and goals. In sum, I work with people as they experience their own life’s challenges. Why Mosaic Counseling Services?
My name is Adrienne (she/her) and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Virginia. Since 2021 I have been practicing therapy in Virginia for over 10 years.
I am warm, interactive, authentic, and a bit country. I love and believe in good therapy. I also believe in people treating each other with respect, sensitivity, and compassion.
Mosaic Counseling Services began with an idea. I was sitting on my therapist’s couch as a young woman who lost her father at the age of 21. I came into our session feeling broken, lost, and down on myself because I was going into adulthood without my father. 26 sessions later, I felt a sense of relief, I felt seen, understood, and cared for; I was more at peace with myself and my life. It wasn’t perfect, but it felt manageable and I felt hopeful.
That’s when I first appreciated the gift of therapy and knew that someday I wanted to create a space like that for other people.
Although it’s often difficult emotions and experiences that propel people to seek therapy in the first place, once we get started you may also be surprised to find a place for humor and laughter in our sessions.
Mosaic Counseling Services is a gift to my younger self, and I hope it can be a place of healing, growth, and support for you and your family.
